"TEST RESULTS FOR WINNERS CHOICE STRING AND CABLE"
THIS TEST REVIEW WILL BE DONE IN TWO OR MORE PARTS IN ORDER TO FULLY EVALUATE THE STRING AND CABLE OVER A PERIOD OF TIME AND CYCLES.
PART 0NE:
STRING MATERIAL #8125 20 STRAND.AS RECEIVED LENGTH 96"
CABLE MATERIAL #8125 20 STRAND.AS RECEIVED LENGTH 40 1/2"
The first thing I noticed with these strings and cables were the pre twisted and clipped ends to prevent unwinding during shipping and handling. They were pre set to the correct length and did not require any guessing as to how many twists would be needed to obtain the desired length. Next thing was the factory wax that was applied. Something that more string makers should do. The serving was quite different than what I have seen from other manufacturers too. This was a very fine and extremely tight serving that would not open up even when tightly bent .I tried to force it to open and to slip but this was futile. It could not be made to open up or separate. The next thing that was different was that the split end of the cable was not served where it meets in the “Y”. This will allow the cable to find its natural divide spot rather than being forced to divide at a predetermined spot like most other systems.
I scaled the test bow at 76 # and chronographed the speed at 290 FPS Before changing the string and cable to the winners choice that was sent to me. The first couple of shots were taken and used to allow the string to seat in to itself and the cam and slider. These shots gave 271 fps at 65 pounds.
Next I turned up the power to 76 pounds and shot a few more arrows .At first I didn’t notice it but this bow had quieted down. It was always a quiet bow but now it was quieter. I chronographed the next series of shots to see how much this new found silence was going to cots in the speed department and had a surprise facing me on the chronograph view screen. I had changed the speed on my bow by 7 feet per second .I expected to pay for the silence but not to be paid! I was now shooting 296.7fps this must be a mistake, so I shot several more strings, all with the same great results.
At this time the string is not broken in and has had very few shots. I found that the peep sight I installed did not rotate after the first 4 shots and will be keeping an eye on this during the season and will comment more on this in part two of this report after I have had the opportunity to see how well it lasts .
To sum up my initial findings I can say that this set of cables and string impressed me. The quality of workmanship on the servings was second to none, my bow became quieter and faster. Although I have not shot this set enough to confirm it yet I feel that string rotation will not be a problem as indicated by the initial findings.
