MODEL TESTED
“PREDATOR IV WITH LIGHT KIT AND DOVETAIL MOUNT”

This sight is for the tree stand hunter that wants to forget about yardage guessing. The model I tested has a small green LED that for low light conditions, lights up a single pin without preventing the target from being seen. The pin guard remains visible from glow-in-the-dark illumination, for dawn and dusk capabilities. The sight is uses a single pin mounted on a pendulum that swings for its range finding ability. Thereby eliminating the need for more than one pin.

I found the accuracy was good with the 1/4" diameter "Perfect Circle Peep" also supplied by Predator Products Co. The large hole made finding the sight easy in low light conditions. I chose the dovetail-mounted model that allows the shooter to quickly remove the Predator IV for storage or to mount a multi-pin sight for 3D or long-range shooting and re-install the Predator IV without having to re-sight in.

With four adjustments, including arrow speed, setup with the Predator IV is a critical task that must be done as described in the instructions in order for the sight to function properly. This takes a little more time than setting up a normal pin sight and is a must for it to work at all ranges, out to 40 yards in my case.

The sight in procedure starts on the ground then the last two adjustments must be done from a tree stand height. Another person to set the target to where the sight tells you to shoot for making the elevation adjustment and to retrieve the arrows is helpful. Now that the elevated sight in procedure is complete you may go to any height of stand that you will be shooting from. The directions are clear and are illustrated with good drawings.

Although the time spend to setup this sight was longer than normal on other sights the results are worth it! It shot good groups from 10 to 40 yards at ground level and from the tree stand. By removing the guess work from shooting downhill and at various ranges this quiet sight will be added to the list of good products that I have tested. The tree stand hunter will especially appreciate the Predator IV
