"Review"

After a few months of wearing the Vail Hikers I can now complete this review with confidence. I have been alternating the "Vail "and the "RainerII" hikers since receiving them a few months ago.

This Review is for the Vail Hikers.

These boots are not only stylish, and will look great around camp, they are, more inportantly very comfortable, and  provide traction that is well suited to everything from muddy hills to dry ground. They have kept my  feet comfortable ,  dry and warm  in all conditions. The Vail Hikers slip off and on easily and lace up quickly . They are a flexible boot that makes climbing steep terrain effortless, even when it is muddy, thanks to the generous lug sole.

Walking the 3D trails  is often a chore when it rains due to hills that become mud slides when wet. I have had no trouble at all with slipping on the way up or down the hills. Although the lug soles provide good traction they also do not hold excessive mud between the lugs and get clogged up  too much.

As for comfort they are excellent. Wearing them all day is not a chore. I find that my feet are not overly tired and have not had any blisters or hot spots. {A long day on the trails will always make your feet a bit tired , even with custom hand made boots.}The removable foot beds make it easy to dry the damp boots after wearing them all day.

The Vail Hikers are destined to be part of my early season hunting gear when I want a short ,light weight boot that is not as hot to wear as the higher top boots. The soles are not noisy in the woods so stalking game in them will not be a problem. The moderately flexible soles will make packing out a heavy load over rough terrain as good as it can be. It is never easy with a Quarter of a moose on your back and sure footing is a must. I have no doubt the Vail will be up to the task if I do my part in taking some game .

The 3D trails we have can be demanding on your boots and between the Vail and the Rainer II Hikers I am wearing this year I have been as sure footed as a goat .

After wearing the Vail Hikers over a lot of diferent terrain and in weather ranging from hot and dry  to wet and muddy I have no reservations in saying I like them and reccomend them to the hunter or outdoorsman that wants an early season boot. They are not a boot for deep snow, but before the ground turns white I think they will be great.

The Rainer II Review will be on line soon.
