This text portion was modified with my coments to add some safety features that will prevent sliping of the press when under strain.the original text is available at ALASKA SAM MATERIALS: HYDRAULIC JACK: 1 TON + -.A guide shoe that fits over the jack ram with a smooth slot will prevent the cable from being able to slip sideways. The jack should be secured in place either permenently by welding to the base or with bolts to prevent it from being able to slip. 2 X 2 X 3/16 HSS TUBE for the main frame,24" long and 10" for the arms."thinner wall will work too." 2" x 1/4" flat bar for the tabs. 3/4" pegs x6"long covered with plastic hose. a washer welded to the end will prevent a limb from sliping off.Quick pins alow the pegs to be moved easily. 1/2" bolts with flat washers and lock nuts for attaching the arms 1/16" aircraft cable.Use thimbles and crosby clips to secure to eye bolts. {Weld eye bolts to prevent opening}A replaceable chain link as shown will work but the thimbles will not kink the cable.
THANKS TO THE FOLKS AT "JESSY'S HOME PAGE" FOR THESE PLANS
