Review

To say I am impressed with this little bow is a great understatement. The Tombow is a delight to shoot, and although it is primarily designed for children it has all the characteristics we look for in adult bows. This little bow will draw to 27" making it a nice choice for the shooters that do not require a hunting weight bow, and the shooters that want a small grip, like ladies and children, and me. I love small grips.

Usualy we think of youth bows as inferior in just about every aspect. This is not the case with the Tombow. The workmanship is without flaws, the material is very good, with perfectly clear glass, not a streak or ugly white spot to be found. The tiller is spot on, and it is a fun little bow to shoot. The draw weights are at 24" so with this we have to remember  they are primarily geared to smaller people and the max draw recomended is 27". Pushing the Tombow to 28" it produced 28# of draw force, and shot an 11 grain per pound arrow at 165fps. This is very respectable performance for a youth bow shooting a heavy arrow.

The Tombow I have is marked at 20# at 24" and doing a draw down it shows 21.7# at 24" measured to the back of the riser instead of 20# measured 1n 3/4" ahead of the grip. The marked weight is correct, as I am measuring it a slightly longer than AMO draw because of the small riser.

After shooting the Tombow and having others shoot it I am satisfied that this is another great little bow from Bearpaw that is perfectly suited to kids, youth, and ladies that would like a light weight easy to handle bow with come classy looks. It has surprising performance for a bow designed primarily for kids. A lot of this performance I believe is from the 8 strand Whisper String Bearpaw uses. Most youth type bows have an overbuilt Dacron string that robs them of any chance of decent performance. The Tombow, {and all Bodnick/bearpaw bows} is aproved to use any type string material and is backed with the incredible Bearpaw 30 year warranty.  If the Tombow was available in a hunting weight I would have a 50# at 28" Tombow in a heartbeat.

All arrows were shot from a static release, by hand at the same session. Actual draw lengths are confirmed / coached by Pat my wife. I use a constant power supply, and a light kit on the chronograph.

Every bow in all of my reviews are set up to be hunting quiet, with minimal vibrations, shock etc.

They are not set up for the fastest speed possible.

I am very impressed with this little bow. The  materials, fit and finish and shooting characteristics are first class. The bow is small enough and light weight for the smaller kids to use without strugling , and it is also well suited for anyone that wants a light draw weight bow for 27" or less draw length. This will appeal to many ladies, and youth . I can not think of any changes I would like to see on this bow.  I do need to make up some lighter arrows and chrono it at 8 grains per pound or less and see how high the numbers are. At 28# and 8 gr/# a 224 grain arrow will be impressive. I will update the review when I get the arrows made up in this weight, or close to it.

The Warranty on a youth bow lasting 30 years, and being transferable is something I can not get over. Mom can start with a Tombow, pass it down to her children, and in all probability they can pass it on to their children, and still have warranty. 30 years is a long time.Bearpaw has certainly demonstrated their confidence in the bows they produce.

This is a little bow well worth considering for your kids, or for anyone that wants a light draw weight bow and has a short 27" drawlength or less.
