UPDATE FEB 2012

I have just been informed that the Little Stick is being made with a dark riser. I have not see the new version, however the pictures I did see look very good. I like this change.

Review

The little Stick longbow is a short and economical longbow that is very nice to shoot. The Little Stick is not a high-end custom bow, it is an economy bow that will give you a new appreciation for what is available for the working man on a budget. The Little Stick draws smooth, shoots very quiet, even without silencers, and has barely a hint of vibrations.

Please do not expect to find an $800.00 bow when you look at a Little Stick. It is not a fancy high-end bow with exotic woods, and a fine finish. It does not reflect this in it's price either. What the Little stick does provide is a very pleasant to shoot bow, without frills. The workmanship is quite good, and the finish is more than adequate to protect the bow.

It shoots with a rather pleasant feel to it, and if you look for it there is a slight hint of a vibration. If you are not looking for it you very well may not notice it at all.

The riser and limbs are made from European Maple, under clear glass. There is some nice grain showing on this bow, that could have been accented with a wipe of stain, giving the little stick more eye appeal to those of us that like a darker bow. For the hunter that frequents winter conditions with snow, or light marsh type grasses the light color of the wood is almost a natural camo. With it's price tag it is also a good candidate for a camo Film Dip in your favorite pattern.

I have been shooting the Little Stick for a few weeks now and have had no trouble adjusting to it. the grip is good for me and it makes it easy to find the same hand position. Like many of the shorter bows this one is not meant for a long draw length. I expect that anything over a maximum draw of 29" will be to much for the bow and the shooter. I have had friends with a 29" draw shoot it and they did like it. To quote one fellow " What a remarkable little bow for the money”.” I really like it".

Well, I share the same feelings about this bow. I can say it is a good bow to  shoot, and you do get a lot of bow for the price you pay. I like the light physical weight of 16 ounces, and women, youth's will certainly find it's light weight and small grip pleasant and easy to get used to. If a fancy bow is not in your budget the Little Stick just might be what you have been looking for. It points well, is easy to shoot, and is as quiet as a church mouse. It is a good bow for the new archer, or the seasoned archer that wants to keep cost inline withoiut sacrificing shooting quality. The tips are shaped well, and look good with the contrasting overlay. Fast Flight type strings or Dacron are both acceptable however I will say the factory Dacron string is not to my taste and I took it off in favour of a better DF97 string.

There are a couple areas that I think the bowyer could improve on without driving up the cost. The first would be to do just a bit more sanding to make the riser more rounded. On the upper left side it goes from a nice smooth contour to a flat side. By continuing the contour another half inch and eliminating the noticeable change it would have a better look. This would take virtually no time at all to do. The next area of improvement would be a bit of stain or dye wiped on the wood. This would make it better suited as an all round hunting bow. If it was offered with Black glass, or a dark stained limb and a dark riser it would be a great little bow in a pop up blind.

All arrows were shot from a static release, by hand at the same session. Actual draw lengths are confirmed / coached by Pat my wife. I use a constant power supply, and a light kit on the chronograph.

Every bow in all of my reviews are set up to be hunting quiet, with minimal vibrations, shock etc.

They are not set up for the fastest speed possible.

To sum up my thoughts on theBodnik  Little Stick I can say that it is a good bow, that is priced for the average working person, or a youth that is on a limited budget. It shoots well, and looks good. The man that will hesitate to take his prize bow to the woods will be comeforatable draging the Little Stick where ever he goes. I see no reason to think that this little bow will not be a reliable hunting bow. I do think that you get a lot of bow for your money with the Little stick .I will not have any hesitation to take the little stick hunting .It will do the job for you.
